Small medium-sized towns in North Rhine-Westphalia
Focus on the needs of children and parents
A total of twelve North Rhine-Westphalian municipalities applied for the Landespreis für familienfreundliche Kommunen 2024 in the "small medium-sized town" category with a population of between 20,000 and 50,000. The award was presented for the first time by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The City of Brühl in particular impressed the jury and was recognized as a "Family-friendly municipality 2024".
We live diversity
True to the motto of the competition - "We live diversity" - we present here how diverse and colorful North Rhine-Westphalian "small medium-sized towns" support families.
The award-winning municipalities
A total of 34 municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia took part in the Landespreis "Familienkommune 2024 - Wir leben Vielfalt" with applications, some of which were very elaborate and ran to several hundred pages. Six of them were honored as "Family Municipality 2024" and received prize money of 10,000 euros each. The award winners are the cities of Gladbeck, Hamm and Brühl, the district of Düren with its 15 towns belonging to the district and the municipalities of Windeck and Dörentrup.
