About 60 percent of accidents involving children occur in their own homes or in the home environment. Serious accidents include falls, burns, scalds, poisoning, drowning, and suffocation.

What can you do to avoid accidents?

Dangers lurk in every room. To recognize hidden dangers, you should see the apartment through the eyes of your children: A shelf quickly becomes a climbing tower, a carpet a tripping hazard and the contents of the trash can become play material. If you make yourself aware of these and similar dangers, you can easily banish them.
