Checklist: Clinic bag

The birth is a unique event. It's best to calmly consider beforehand what all you want to take with you to the clinic when it starts.

• Mother's passport
• Health insurance card
• Identification document (identity card)
• Family register with the marriage certificate (if you are married to the father of the child) or birth certificate or paternity acknowledgment (if you are single or unmarried)

• Possibly allergy passport

• Big wide knee-length t-shirt for birth
• Night shirts to button
• Jogging suit or comfortable wide pants

• Morning robe
• Thick socks, slippers
• Cotton or disposable panties, pads
• Breastfeeding bras, nursing pads
• Nursing pillows
• Washcloths, towels, personal hygiene/cosmetic bag (e.g. toothbrush, face cream, deodorant, hairbrush, hair ties, lip balm)
• Possibly massage oil, favorite/relaxing music with headphones

• For contact lenses: storage box, contact lens solution and glasses

• Catering (snacks, juice) or money for the cafeteria

• Camera, cell phone

• Body, little shirt, panties, romper
• Cap, socks, jacket
• Several burp cloths
• Evtl. pacifier and wound protection cream

• Baby blanket
• carrycot or baby car seat
• 2 to 3 diapers
