Single parents should know about the entitlement and calculation of the maintenance advance in order to receive the best possible financial support for their child. Here you can find out how the maintenance advance is calculated and which income is taken into account.
How is the maintenance advance calculated?
The amount of the advance maintenance payment is based on the statutory minimum maintenance. This depends on the age of your child. Child benefit is deducted from the maintenance advance in full.

Important to know
Maintenance payments from the other parent and orphan's benefits that a child receives after the death of a parent are deducted from the maintenance advance. In the case of children who no longer attend a general school, other income of the child is also counted towards the maintenance advance under certain conditions, for example an apprenticeship salary.
The maintenance advance is paid monthly in advance. The money is usually in your account no later than the first working day of the month of entitlement.
