Midwifery assistance
The midwife is a valuable companion during pregnancy and the postnatal period. (Expectant) mothers who have statutory health insurance are entitled to the support of a midwife before and after the birth. The costs are covered by health insurance.
Apply now
The midwife invoices her services directly to the health insurance company. A separate application is not necessary.

How does midwifery assistance work?
You can contact a midwife of your choice directly.
After presenting your health insurance card, your midwife will invoice the services provided directly to the relevant health insurance company. However, only services that are regulated in the midwives' fee schedule can be billed.
Depending on what you are looking for a midwife for, you can take action at different times during your pregnancy. You can find more information here on the NRW family portal.
